Unfortunately zPesa does not pay you before your money clears. The main reason for this is because PayPal has a system called PayPal chargeback. In the event that we pay you and you immediately apply for a charge back from PayPal, we will most likely lose the appeal and PayPal will reverse the money back to you in the process we would make a loss. Chargebacks are mainly intended to stop one from making a loss and since you sent money to us and we have not yet cleared that money out of our account, PayPal assumes that reversing the money back to you wouldn’t cause a loss to you or to us either.
What is a chargeback?
A chargeback occurs when a buyer asks their credit card company to remove a charge from their credit card statement. The credit card company will ask the buyer to provide an explanation about why they are disputing the charge.
Two common reasons for reversals or chargebacks are:
- A buyer’s credit card number is stolen and used fraudulently
- A buyer makes a purchase, but believes that the seller failed to fulfill their side of the agreement (e.g. did not ship the item, shipped an item that was very different from the seller’s description, or the item was damaged when the buyer received it).
